Phoebe Waller-Bridge Launches New Production House to Make Shows for Amazon

Emmy Award-winning creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is launching a new film and television production company called Wells Street Films. The company will oversee Waller-Bridge’s upcoming projects as part of her overall deal with Amazon signed last year.

Waller-Bridge swept the Emmys last September with her critically acclaimed comedy series Fleabag, which won a total of six Emmys for the year. Waller-Bridge has also worked as a writer on the thriller series Killing Eve, which has also won a Golden Globe and an Emmy during its run. Following Waller-Bridge’s success with Fleabag, the creator was approached by Amazon Prime with a $20 million per year contract for three years to create new series for the streaming platform.

Since signing her agreement with Amazon, Waller-Bridge has launched the production company Wells Street Films, based in London. The head of television and film for the company is Jenny Robins, who served as a story producer for both Killing Eve and Fleabag, and executive produced the HBO series Run alongside Waller-Bridge. Robins and Waller-Bridge will be joined by development executive Charlotte McBrearty, who previously worked as a production manager on Fleabag.

According to a report from Deadline, Waller-Bridge “said it was a “life-long dream” made possible by Amazon to set up a production business, and that she “can’t wait” to start making new work. “Let’s f**k shit up!” Waller-Bridge joked.”

Waller-Bridge’s Wells Street Films will not be solely focused on creating Amazon series, however. The current trio of collaborators expect to develop film projects that will sit outside the realm of their multi-million dollar Amazon deal, though they have not released any details yet as to what they might be developing. These projects will most likely be entirely new, however, considering that Waller-Bridge has confessed that a third season of Fleabag is rather unlikely
