Peacock’s ‘The Office’ Spinoff Adds Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key And Eric Rahill To Its Main Cast

Peacock’s The Office spinoff has added four new members to the series’ main cast, Deadline reports. The actors and actresses include Gbemisola Ikumelo (Black OpsA League Of Their Own), Alex Edelman (Just For UsUnfrosted), Tim Key (The WitchfinderThis Time with Alan Partridge) and Eric Rahill (FriendshipThe Bear).

According to Deadline, all four of them will be featured as writers for the untitled spinoff project set in the same universe as the original NBC series The Office, which starred Steve Carell (Despicable Me, IF). At the moment, information about this project is under wraps.

“According to Deadline, NBC previously announced Domhnall Gleeson (About Time, Black Mirror), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus, Kiss Me Again), Melvin Gregg (The Blackening, Freakish), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys, Tankhouse) and Ramona Young (The Prank, Never Have I Ever) as the main cast of the spinoff series. Lisa Katz (Extended Family, Law & Order), president of scripted content at NBCU Entertainment, in an interview with TVLine back in May, shared her thoughts on Peacock producing this new spinoff to the beloved comedy series.

“It’s been more than 10 years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock,” Katz explained via TVLine.

According to Deadline, in the new spinoff, the usual documentary crew that filmed the lives of the workers of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch finds a new Midwestern newspaper that is currently dying out, as the publisher is trying to bring it back into business with volunteer reporters.

According to Deadline, the news outlet shared that secret project was in pre-production at the beginning of the year. In March, the same outlet announced that Michael Koman (Nathan for You, Saturday Night Live) and Greg Daniels (Parks and Recreation, King of the Hill) were the creators of the spinoff series. A month later, the first two stars slated for the main cast, Gleeson and Impacciatore, were announced.

According to Deadline, Daniels and Koman created and executive-produced the spinoff series. Other executive producers include Stephen Merchant (Extras, Life’s Too Short), Ricky Gervais (The Invention of Lying, Extras), Howard Klein (Jessica Jones, Late Night), Banijay Americas, formerly known as Reveille and Ben Silverman (MacGruber, 30 Days). All these producers have worked behind the original British series and the famous NBC version with Carell as the main star. The studio will be Universal Television, a Universal Studio Group division.

No official filming or release date confirmation for The Office spinoff from NBC or Peacock yet exists.
