Peacock To Develop ‘Such A Nice Girl’ With ‘All Her Fault’ Creatives

Deadline reported in an exclusive that a new series has landed for development at Peacock, with rights to develop bestselling novel Such A Nice Girl from author Andrea Mara through Carnival Films, part of Universal International Studios. Peacock previously adapted Mara’s All Her Fault, which became a hit limited series on the platform – leading to many key figures from the series’ creative team entering the ring on this project.

Mara’s 2021 book All Her Fault marked the first by the Irish author to become a screen adaptation, with Carnival Films, UIS, and Megan Gallagher (Wolf, Grand Hotel) behind its development into a limited series in 2025. Per Deadline, it became a breakout success, sitting as Peacock’s biggest original launch to date after having gathered 45 million hours viewed in its first four weeks. The mystery thriller has been nominated for both Golden Globe awards and Critics’ Choice Awards, and notably won its lead actress Sarah Snook (Succession, These Final Hours) the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.

Creator of All Her Fault, Gallager, is said by Deadline to be writing and executive producing alongside Carnival Films’ Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey, All the King’s Men) and Nigel Marchant (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die). On the subject, she spoke on her involvement in the project:

Such A Nice Girl is such a smart, engaging story. Twists and turns galore, but also a deep and satisfying exploration of female friendship. I’m incredibly excited and grateful that Andrea Mara has allowed me the opportunity to adapt. And working again with both Carnival Films and Peacock makes all of it just perfect.”

Much like All Her Fault, the project is a joint involvement between Peacock and Carnival Films – the duo with Gallagher also worked on a limited series adaptation of author Katherine Faulkner’s novel, The Break-In, which was recently greenlit

Such A Nice Girl follows the intertwined stories of best friends Grace and Siobhan, two mothers who find themselves confronted with a mystery inexplicably tying their daughters together. From Deadline, a brief synopsis:

“In Such A Nice Girl, the morning after a glamorous luxury wedding, best friends Siobhan and Grace go to wake their 24-year-old daughters. Opening the door to their shared room, they find a smashed lamp, an abandoned phone and blood on the carpet. Over the next few days, the truth unravels and tests Siobhan and Grace’s friendship to its limits. As secrets and lies begin to come to light, they realize the girls were not best friends. In fact, they weren’t really friends at all. And now, it looks like one of them is dead and one is a killer. But whose daughter is guilty of murder?”

Gallagher’s other works, via Deadline, include writing/EP-ing on BBC’s Wolf and upcoming ITV drama The Blame as EP and lead writer. She is repped by Marjaq Scripts on behalf of DHH.
