Peacock Releases Superfan Episodes of ‘The Office’ Today in Celebration of Pretzel Day

Superfan Episodes of The Office are now available for streaming on Peacock, according to Deadline. The episodes are being released in celebration of Pretzel Day, a callback to an episode in which the Dunder Mifflin staff waste the day waiting in line for free pretzels.

Deadline reports that Superfan Episodes for season one and season three are included in today’s release. The episodes feature previously unreleased deleted scenes, bloopers and interviews.

The idea of Pretzel Day first appeared in the season three episode “Initiation,” which was written by B.J. Novak (Inglourious Basterds) and directed by Randall Einhorn (Fargo), according to Deadline. When Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer, Splitting Up Together) is instructed to track Michael Scott’s productivity throughout the day, she takes notes of the random ways he spends his time—joking around with a potential client, listening to music in his office and waiting in line for a free soft pretzel.

The episode ends with Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker, Doug Unplugs) restarting the countdown to next year’s Pretzel Day, his favorite holiday.

The Office ran for nine seasons on NBC, ending in 2013, but continues to be a fan favorite for multiple viewings, according to Deadline. It was created by Greg Daniels (King of the Hill), Ricky Gervais (Extras) and Stephen Merchant (Hello Ladies) and launched the careers of Carell, Fischer, John Krasinski (Jack Ryan) and Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project).
