Peacock Is Developing Scripted ‘Clue’ Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Clue scripted series that Sony Pictures Television was working on has now landed home at Peacock. Currently in development, the scripted show hails from Dana Fox (Cruella, How to Be Single), who will serve as showrunner alongside Nicholas Stoller (Neighbors, Storks), who will direct. Both will be producing the Clue series.

As per  The Hollywood Reporter, to many, this may sound familiar and it is, with competition-series adaptation of Clue being developed by Netflix. Back in 2018, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Free Guy) intended to make a Clue movie with Jason Bateman (Zootopia, Black Rabbit) was set to direct, but when his Ozark schedule got in the way, James Bobin (The Muppets, Ali G, Innit) stepped up. Due COVID-19 and a few creative differences, the project was put on pause. Sony acquired the film and TV rights to the Hasbro game in 2024.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, joining Fox and Stoller is Hasbro Entertainment’s head of TV Gabriel Marano (Scrabble) will also executive produce the Clue series. Also joining them is Margy Love (Moonshot, Crocodile Smile) of Fox’s company Foxy, Inc. and Conor Welch (Incoming, Crime After Crime) of Stoller’s production house Stoller Global Solutions. Peacock, being a domestic-only platform, allows Sony TV to retain and exploit international rights to the series, making this a financially beneficial proposition for the indie studio.

As per  The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be adapting the ever-beloved game of Clue with a modern twist to the cast of the game franchise. The game’s plot follows a group of strangers who are invited to a billionaire’s murder mystery night to solve the famous questions who, where, with, what and how. They quickly discover that nothing is what it seems to be, and the stakes are even higher than life or death. The game features six characters, which includes Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlett, Mrs. White, Mr. Green and Colonel Mustard.

There is currently no time window for production on the Clue series.
