Peacock Announces Action Comedy From ‘Happy Endings’ Team Starring Damon Wayans Jr.

NBC’s Peacock has acquired a script-to-series order for a half-hour comedy from Happy Endings creator David Caspe (Black Monday, Marry Me), and writers Matt and Daniel Libman (Robot Chicken). This venture reunites Caspe and the Libman brothers with actor Damon Wayans. Jr (Happy Together), who is set to star in the series via Deadline.

In addition to being the lead, Wayans Jr. will executive produce the action-comedy under his Two Shakes Entertainment imprint. The series is part of Wayans Jr.’s first-look deal with CBS TV Studios. In the show, Wayans Jr. stars as one-half of a married couple which, because of financial woes, decide to become bounty hunters.

Wayans Jr. recently joined his Happy Endings family for virtual charity event episode and live Q&A session. He was last seen in CBS’ now-canceled Happy Together, which starred Amber Stevens West (The Carmichael Show).

Caspe’s Black Monday on Showtime snagged a Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy nomination for Don Cheadle’s (Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame) Mo Monroe. The dark comedy just wrapped its second season on the cable network.

The Libman siblings write and produce for both Black Monday and NBC’s upcoming comedy Kenan, which Caspe is executive producer and showrunner. The brothers formerly produced YouTube series Champaign, IL which starred Adam Pally (Happy Endings, Indebted) and Sam Richardson (Veep).
