- James Gunn (Guardian of the Galaxy) has given a release window for the second season of the highly acclaimed DC series Peacemaker. The series continues from Suicide Squad and follows the journey of Christopher Smith, played by John Cena (The Blockers), who assembled a team to combat alien forces from taking over the earth in the first season. According to Comicbook, it was revealed by DC Studio’s co-chief that the title character would not return until after the Man of Steel reboot, which is scheduled for 2025. The synopsis of the reboot focuses on a young Superman, played by David Corenswet (Twister), who travels to balance and accept his Krypton heritage with his human upbringing.
According to Comicbook, Gunn, in July, listed the upcoming series in order, which starts with Creatures Commandos in December 2024, Superman in 25 and Peacemaker’s season two release date is still to be announced. He also said on Threads that there would be additional projects by stating, “Nothing is ‘in production’ unless it’s been greenlit. Right now that’s Superman, Supergirl, Penguin, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and a handful of animated projects, once we have a script or scripts we think are great and ready to shoot, never before.”
According to Comicbook, the members that will be returning for the second season will be Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) as Leota, Freddie Stroma (Pitch Perfect) as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland (Brightburn) as Emilia Harcourt and Steve Agee (The Suicide Squad)as John Economos. There will also be new additions to the series, such as Sol Rodríguez (Star Trek: Picard), Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live) and David Denman (The Office), as well as the return of Frank Grillo (The Suicide Squad) as Rick Flag Sr.
While fans are waiting for further news surrounding the release date of the upcoming season of Peacemaker, the entire first season is available to stream on Max. With James Gunn at the helm, Peacemaker season two and future projects will surely be jam-packed with intense action sequences to captivate the viewers.
