Production is amping up in the TV world. According to TVLine, this past Saturday, the DC series Peacemaker officially began filming. This announcement came with some posts to social media from the cast and creators, further confirming the beginnings of the latest season.
In a post to social media, James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad), the executive producer of the series shared a snap of the iconic helmet from Peacemaker to commemorate the start of filming. With the caption “Day 1 S2”, fans celebrated the progress of the series “pre-shoot” as the series is slowly rolling towards the eyes of viewers. This post was then followed by John Cena (The Suicide Squad, Argyle), the actor who plays the leading role in the series, who posted a similar photo to his own Instagram page.

Peacemaker’s second season was officially announced a few hours before the first had even concluded with the announcement coming right before the finale. It was also announced that Gunn would be writing and directing the entire new season. But, since the producer also took on the task of both writing the new Superman film and was announced as the new co-CEO of DC Studios, he had to take a slight step back with his involvement in the series. In a Threads post, he stated “In the interest of getting the show out there, I won’t be able to direct them all (only some).” It is still confirmed that Gunn did write all eight of the upcoming episodes.
There is yet to be a premiere date for the new season as nothing official has been announced. But, for the new DCU under Gunn to not confuse fans, the series will take place in the new DCU and will be released after the new Amanda Waller TV series and the new Superman film.
