‘Parks and Rec’ Duo Natalie Morales and Mike Schur Will Reunite for a New NBC Comedy

Even though Parks and Recreation completed its run on TV back in 2015, the show is still considered to be one of the best comedy series NBC has ever produced. According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans of the series have a reason to get excited: Natalie Morales (who played Lucy in Parks and Rec) has signed on to star in a new comedy with Parks and Rec co-creator Mike Schur for NBC.

The comedy will by titled Abby’s, with Morales playing the titular lead role. Abby’s will be set in a San Diego bar, following the close-knit community of the regulars that attend it. Morales’ character Abby not only owns the bar, but is also an ex-Army staff sergeant who takes comfort in her new lifestyle.

Morales posted on Twitter confirming the news of her role in the series and expressed her excitement over working with Schur again.

Josh Malmuth (Superstore, New Girl) will write the series while Pam Fryman (How I Met Your Mother) will direct. Fryman will also work as an executive producer alongside Schur.

The concept behind Abby’s is refreshingly original for a network cable comedy series, and television audiences will no doubt be excited to see more work from Schur and Morales.
