Following its December 18th premiere on Paramount+, the prequel series to Paramount’s Yellowstone, entitled 1923, was also unveiled to audiences for free on the streaming service’s Youtube account, according to Screen Rant. So far, the streaming series has only released its first two episodes of its first season on December 18 and Christmas Day and is gearing up for the third installment on New Years Eve. Taylor Sheridian (Siciario, Hell or High Water) created this series after his parent series Yellowstone hit mainstream success on Paramount Network along with success of another prequel series 1883. Similar to 1883, 1923’s prequel season will contain eight episodes for its run.
1923 centers on the story of the Dutton family in the titular year as they encounter the Great Depression along with the further exploration of the Western United States. The prequel series contains an A-List cast with Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Harrison Ford (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Fugitive) portray Cara and Jacob Dutton respectively, serving as the matriarch and patriarch of the family in this show’s format. The two legendary actors are joined by the likes of Darren Mann (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Isabel May (Alexa & Katie), Brandon Sklenar (Vice), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), James Badge Dale (The Departed), Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker, Big Sky), and many others.
With the successes of Yellowstone and 1883, 1923 captured the biggest premiere numbers for Paramount+ on its December 18 release. Now, with the premiere episode available for free on the streamer’s Youtube channel, the overall reach of the Yellowstone universe will continue to touch new audiences that are not subscribed and act as a teaser to subscribe to the streamer as the remaining episodes will be exclusive to its respective platform. So far, the premiere episode has garnered 350,000 views on Youtube in the first four days of its free release. For interested television viewers, check out the first episode of 1923 below:
