Paramount+ has released a new trailer for the reboot series Fatal Attraction. Fatal Attraction is set to release later this month on April 30, 2023, according to ComicBook.
As per People, the inaugural trailer showcased Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield, Freaks and Geeks), Amanda Peet (Identity, 2012), and Joshua Jackson (The Affair, D2: The Mighty Ducks) entangled in a monumental love triangle. Caplan plays Alex Forrest, the villain; Jackson plays Dan Gallagher, the hero; Peet plays Beth Gallagher.
The upcoming series is a modern take on the classic 1987 psychosexual thriller directed by Adrian Lyne, featuring Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Traffic), Glenn Close (The Big Chill, The World According to Garp), and Anne Archer (Short Cuts, Patriot Games). The show delves into two distinct timelines (one in 2008 and the other in 2023) and examines “enduring themes of marital relationships and adultery, as seen through a contemporary perspective on powerful women, personality disorders, and manipulative behavior,” as per a statement in a press release, according to People.
“In the film, Alex is the villain of the story, and Dan is the hero and there is no gray area,” said Caplan, via BloodyDisgusting. “Now, audiences have changed so much, we are no longer primed to believe in this villainous woman story. She’s clearly mentally ill and that’s not something that is really touched upon at all in the movie. The series explores the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control.”
The series also stars Alyssa Jirrels (We See It, This Is the Year) portraying Ellen Gallagher, Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly, Good Girls) portraying Earl Broker, Brian Goodman (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Munich) portraying Arthur Tomlinson, and Toby Huss (King of the Hill, Copshop) portraying Mike Gerard.
“We want to entertain people who are familiar with the touchstones of the original movie, but also people who have no idea what it is. If people are interested, we want them to be able to jump in and enjoy it for its own merits, even if they don’t have context for bunny boiling,” said Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives, Dirty John) the writer of the series.
Fatal Attraction makes its debut on April 30, 2023, on Paramount+.
