Paramount+ Gives a Sneak Peek To The ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Upcoming Musical Episode

The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series is going to have a musical episode and also a Lower Decks season four live-action crossover. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service has confirmed the rumors of a possible musical Star Trek in the second season of the series.

The prospective music induced episode will be entitled “Subspace Rhapsody” and it marks the very first musical themed episode within the whole 57 years of the Star Trek franchise. There have only been musical scenes in the franchise, but never a whole episode dedicated to be one. “Subspace Rhapsody” will contain 10 new original songs and the main title will place as a musical version. The creators of the lyrics and music will include Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo) and Tom Polce (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).

This exciting news comes straight from Comic-Con last Saturday in San Diego where Star Trek was hosted in Hall H. The journey to this musical fate happens when the U.S.S. Enterprise gets blasted by a space figure which just so happens to make the crew start singing as shown in the trailer below.

The streamer has also announced that they will be releasing a Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds cross over that will be animation versus live-action. The crossover will be coming early and the episode will be ready to watch on Paramount+ at 4pm tonight and the rest of the season will be released on September 7th. The streamer released a first look at the episode and a trailer for Lower Decks season four down below.

Star Trek: Discovery is also preparing for its fifth and final season that will be released in early 2024. Discovery fans have been told to expect to “find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.”
