Showtime and Paramount+’s newest series The Agency is making its action-packed, espionage-ridden debut soon as Showtime announced the show’s premiere date and trailer via Deadline. The show’s premise is inspired by the French drama series Le Bureau des Legendes, a political thriller that follows the messy lives of France’s top security agents.
According to mxdwn, the series stars Michael Fassbender (Band Of Brothers, Hex), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen And Smith, Ann Boleyn), Jeffery Wright (Westworld, American Fiction) and Richard Gere (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride) in the crazy decent into a secretive world.
Mxdwn explains that the series follows Fassbender as protagonist Martian, “a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”
The newest trailer provides insight into the stakes of Martian’s undercover life–risking his safety, love life and sanity for the sake of The Agency he serves. In the trailer , Martian is sitting across from a “doctor” in an integration room, considering her question: “Do you have something to hide?” A montage of explosions, heists, car chases ensues as all the complications from being in the agency wash over Martian. An insane job with insane pressure for an insane agent. The trailer ends eerily as Martian sits up in his chair, squaring up to the doctor’s integration– “You’re not trying to help me, Doctor. You’re worried I may have somehow become sane.”
According to Deadline, The Agency will premiere with two episodes available on demand and streaming for those who subscribe to Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, November 29, 2024, ahead of the series’ on-air premiere. The Agency will also be available in Canada, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Latin America, Australia and the UK through Paramount+.
