Paget Brewster Apologizes For Lashing Out At ‘Criminal Minds’ Critic

After Paget Brewster, star of Criminal Minds, lashed out at a ScreenRant author, she is hoping that her fans can forgive her.

On the 20th of June, a ScreenRant article was written by Shealyn Scott speaking on issues that she saw with the newer seasons of Criminal Minds: Evolution. Upon seeing the review, Brewster decided to call out the author of the article in a social media post.

“Hello critic Shealynn Scott. You’re young. You don’t know that bad pics and bad reviews can lead to 350 people losing their jobs,” Brewster wrote in the now-deleted post. “Sell vintage. Work at a shelter. Do something better than what you do now. Because right now you suck.”

The post quickly gained traction, with many people criticizing the actress for her personal attack on Scott. Within 24 hours, Brewster deleted the post and posted an apology.

“Hi guys, I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it,” she wrote. “Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job. I’m very sorry, Shealyn. And I’m sorry to those who follow me that you saw me behave like that. Turns out, last night, I sucked.”

Despite Brewster treating Scott’s article as a review, it is categorized as a feature article focused on the changes the show had gone through after shifting to streaming.

Criminal Minds finished after a 15-year run in 2020. After being revived as Criminal Minds: Evolution, the show moved to Paramount+ in 2022, causing many changes to come with it. Scott focused on these changes and how they made the revival feel different from the original show.

According to Scott and ScreenRant’s branding & PR director, Rob Keyes, Brewster reached out personally as well to apologize privately.

“Paget also reached out privately to apologize to me!” Scott wrote on X. “Criminal Minds is still one of my all-time favorite shows, and I’m very excited to continue covering s19 (and hopefully beyond!).”
