Outlander actors Sam Heughan (Outlander, Doctors) and Graham McTavish (Outlander, The Hobbit) star in the show’s spinoff docu-series Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham. The eight-part travel series will premiere on Starz, according to Deadline.
Each episode lasts a half-hour and follows Heughan and McTavish as they explore their rich Scottish heritage in their native country. They will travel to Glencoe, a site known to Outlander fans as a major turning point filled with rivalry and an epic feud. In the original sci-fi drama series, Heughan plays Scottish soldier Jamie Fraser and McTavish plays war chief Dougal Mackenzie. Both actors have built an international fanbase of passionate fans in the Outlander with their compelling roles. The show just recently ended its fifth season, in which McTavish returns to his role after being absent from the third and fourth season.
Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham was created and executively produced by Heughan, McTavish and Alex Norouzi and is produced for Starz by Boardwalk Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.
In a statement reported by E! News, President of Original Starz Programming Christina Davis says, “The genuine curiosity and passion that Sam and Graham have for the landscapes they visit and the stories they uncover while traveling through the heart of Scotland makes ‘Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham’ a truly enjoyable journey of discovery for the audience. The series gives context and texture to Highland life and history, woven together, much like the tartan for which Scotland is so famous, and we look forward to taking this road trip with these two great friends.”
