New York Comic Con 2019 is on a roll with exciting releases this year, one of which includes Starz’s continuation of Outlander, which will premiere February 16, 2020. The panel released not only includes the new video trailer for the fifth season, but also some interesting photos and a glimpse of the stirring conflict that is yet to come. Fans will speculate the meaning and raise the bar on expectations for the historical drama, but in the meanwhile, it’s enough to satisfy and promise a lot more of what they love.
The panel for Starz’s Outlander took place at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, also including stars like Sam Heughan, Duncan Lacroix, Caitriona Balfe, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and David Berry. Executive producers Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore were also there actively interacting with fans and their onslaught of questions regarding the new trailer, to which the team happily answered.
Fans have been very patient as the season has taken a hiatus, but they’re now rewarded with a trailer depicting the Frasers’ reluctant entrance to war set in 18th century colonial America. The returning characteristics of gorgeous historical scenery, guns ablaze, risky adventure, and time travel is back. Also coming back to life are the Frasers, who seek a simple comfort and family stability amidst the chaos. Set right before the coming of the American Revolution, the trailer dives into Jamie’s struggle to hunt his grandfather, ultimately mixing up the tone of the new season.
For fans and new viewers alike, a new dilemma rises; the time traveling family must deal with returning to the 1700’s or their own time, the 1900’s. These raises so many questions and expectations between the ordeal of time travel and the decisions that involve the family dynamic. Season 5 is a couple days after Valentine’s, and Starz is leaving the rest the saga with a lot of hype and a only few answered questions. Just like the Frasers, only time will tell how things will go for the show’s next input.
