Only Murders in the Building has released its first teaser for its third season. The first teaser for Only Murders in the Building offers a sneak peek at the upcoming show, featuring the highly-anticipated arrival of Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia!) to the cast, according to ScreenRant.
Variety reports that in the 30-second teaser, Streep is introduced as a “surprise you never saw coming,” but the clip shows the Oscar winner struggling to deliver a line during what appears to be a table read. Streep can be heard saying, “Oh my god, it’s me!” in between nervous laughter. “Oh, I’m so sorry. It’s me, isn’t it.”
Variety shares that Streep’s casting announcement was made in January of this year via a video shared on Instagram on Selena Gomez’s account.
A previous report from ComicBook revealed that Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Knocked Up) will be part of the cast for the third season of the series, after making a cameo appearance in the finale of the second season.
“I will only tease further to say what’s coming is so crazy and delightful. I’m thrilled about where we are in Season 3,” proclaimed executive producer and co-creator John Hoffman (Grace and Frankie, Adventures in Wonderland).”It’s going to feel differently because there’s an innate sense around our title, and our characters and that trio is magic. How to freshen that up and progress them individually but also to pull them back together, and the ways in which they’ve been out of touch, and the ways in which they have found more conflict, potentially, in the last year that we traverse, there’s a lot of great stuff. We reset them a little bit, reset their world, and yet the Arconia is still very present in Season 3. What could have happened in that year? Who could have come into their lives? What do their lives look like now? We have a fresh start because we don’t know everyone who could be involved potentially, and we can get to play with that.”
Only Murders in the Building is an intriguing Hulu original series that revolves around three neighbors who live in the same apartment building. The trio unexpectedly becomes entangled in multiple mysteries that put their own lives at risk, leading them to create their own true-crime podcast to investigate the crimes.
The series stars Steve Martin (Bringing Down the House, Cheaper By the Dozen), Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place, Another Cinderella Story), and Martin Short (The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, Inherent Vice).
