New fairy tale characters were announced during Once Upon a Time’s Comic-Con panel, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Playing Aladdin, is Deniz Akdeniz who appeared on Graceland. In the series, Aladdin is being described as “the savior.” And Oded Fehr from Covert Affairs will play Jafar, the villain. In addition to these two characters, Deadline reported that Karen David from Galavant will be playing Jasmine, the Arabian princess in the upcoming fantasy series. The trio joins Giles Matthey and Craig Horner, who were recently confirmed to play Morpheus and Count of Monte Cristo, respectively.
During the panel, the executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz along with the cast shared some details about the sixth season. Lana Parilla, who portrays the Evil Queen made it clear that her character won’t be all sweet and soft now that Regina separated herself from the Evil Queen. Parilla explained “She’s not going to lose her sass. I thought, ‘Is she just now this pure, light being?’ They said, ‘Well no, not really, because she’s still sassy.’ That’s Regina. She’s sarcastic. She’s not going to lose that. But the Evil Queen is slightly different than she used to be. She is now without a conscience, so she’s pure evil and a lot of fun. Regina is desperate to really be this hero and be happy internally. That’s really what she wants for herself. She has this beautiful family now. It’s going to be an interesting journey to see how the Evil Queen and Regina coexist.”
Fans can also expect a bromance from Charming (Josh Dallas) and Hook (Colin O’Donohue) this season. The upcoming season will also reveal that Belle (Emilie de Ravin) is attracted to Rumple’s (Robert Carlyle) darkness. “She’s acknowledging and realizing that part of that pull is him being a bad guy. She likes that. Even though deep down she sees the good in him… but that darkness, she likes that. She’s struggling with that quite a bit,” de Ravin said.
