Omar Sy Signs First-Look TV Deal With HBO Max

Omar Sy (Lupin) has signed a first-look TV deal with HBO Max, according to Deadline. Sy will develop international series with the streaming platform, which will include shows filmed out of France.

This is the second contract Sy has signed with a digital streaming platform. Sy also has a multi-year movie deal with Netflix. He also has his own production company, Korokoro, which is based in Paris as well as Los Angeles.

Sy released a statement on his new deal with HBO Max.

“I am very happy to be partnering with HBO Max who share my dreams of developing globally appealing content for audiences around the world, including French speaking Africa, France and the United States,” Sy said, per Deadline.

Also releasing a statement on the new deal was Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s Head of Original Content.

“Omar Sy is one of the great talents of our time and it has been thrilling to watch his global star rise after enjoying such a celebrated acting career in his native France,” Aubrey said, per Deadline. “We are honored to be partnering with Omar and are looking forward to what we’ll accomplish together in the years ahead amid HBO Max’s increasing global expansion.”

Sy’s breakout performance came from the French comedy-drama film, The Intouchables, which was later remade in the United States as The Upside, which starred Kevin Hart (Get Hard) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad). Since then, he has appeared in multiple French films and shows including Fish’n Chips and, currently, Lupin. Most recently, he starred in the war film Father & Soldier, which debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

His most notable upcoming project is Jurassic World Dominion, in which he will appear in alongside Chris Pratt (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), and Laura Dern (Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi). The film will be released on June 10th.
