During the 2025 New York City Comic Con, the stars of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms shared a new official teaser trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff, along with fun facts on filming the series during a live panel. The panel included Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Small Things Like These), who plays Ser Duncan le Grand, Dexter Sol Ansell (The Midwich Cuckoos, The Hunger Games: Songbirds & Snakes), who plays Egg, co-creator and showrunner Ira Parker (The Last Ship, Four in the Morning) and co-creator and executive producer George R. R. Martin (A Dance with Dragons, A Dream of Spring).
The panel included many questions about working on the set of the series. More notably, the first moment Martin was on set, which showcased the cast filming a tug of war scene. Claffey and Ansell expressed how fun the scene was and that they were playing actual tug of war with the risk of falling into actual mud. Ansell mentioned how no one was really listening to the set coordinator, which made the scene take much longer than needed. Claffey also expressed how he reacted when he found out he got the role of playing Ser Duncan le Grand and how he curled up in a fetal position for an hour from the surprise.
The session ended with three fans of the franchise attempting to recite the knight’s oath, which reads as follows: “In the name of the Warrior, I charge you to be brave. In the name of the Father, I charge you to be just. In the name of the Mother, I charge you to defend the innocent. Arise, [name], a knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” If the fans got the answer correct, they were knighted by Martin himself.
According to the press release for the series, the official log line reads as follows: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on HBO on Sunday, January 18 at 10 P.M. ET/PT and will be available to stream on HBO Max with new episodes every Sunday.
