The official cast lineup for the Fourth Season of Superman & Lois has been announce and may come as a shock to some fans. According to Deadline, only four of the 12 show regulars from season 3 are returning in the next season. The reason for these actor cuts are connected to budget cuts to the show.
The departing actors who grace the screen of Superman & Lois regularly include Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tayler Buck, Sofia Hasmik, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, and Wolé Parks. Among these actors, five of them were on the show since it’s very beginning, these five actors are none other than Navarrette, Valdez, Parks, Chriqi, and Walsh. Hopefully we get to see these actors return at least in the next season of the show, whether or not they fully reprise their roles or act in special guest cameos.
On the other hand, actors who are coming back this fourth season include Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Superman and Lois Lane. Among them, playing their children Alex Garfin and Michael Bishop will also be reprising their roles and Michael Cudlitz will return to play his role as Lex Luthor. Cudlitz was last season’s guest star, but he will now become a season four regular.
The series Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming have underwent big budget cuts, meaning cast cuts. In the process of cutting actors, Superman & Lois is already finished, however for All American: Homecoming, it is still an ongoing process.
Given the budget cuts, viewers can predict that the story will have a heavier emphasis on being a family drama along with it’s superhero story. The fourth season will have 10 episodes and this smaller episode count, in relation to it’s usual 13 episode list, is also alluded to the show’s budget cuts. Hopefully in the future, viewers and fans of the show can watch for the return of the departing cast members of season four, but in the meantime we will wait to see what the new season brings to the table.
