Comedy’s nicest standup, Nate Bargatze (The Standups), is set to host NBC’s Saturday Night Live this upcoming Saturday. Bargatze is known for his family-friendly comedic content and routines, which then created his reputation of being “The Nicest Guy in Comedy”. But in the latest promotional video for the new episode, the tables had turned. Baratze has gone full diva (for the bit).
The promo video begins with Bargatze sitting down and reading the episode’s script in Studio 8H, only to be greeted by cast members Andrew Dismukes (Call Me Brother) and Devon Walker (Ayo And Rachel Are Single). Bargatze then apologizes for lounging around the studio. After this brief apology, Dismukes tells him to not worry about it. “You can be anywhere you want,” Dismukes says, “You’re the star, you’re the host,” adds Walker. After this, the two then motivate the new host to go full diva mode “more Hollywood, more edgy.” After this exchange, the newest addition to the cast, Chloe Troast, comes over to greet Bargatze with a “welcome coffee” which he throws at the ground, and then suddenly wreaks havoc onto Studio 8H, completely doing a 180 from the nice guy audiences know.
This is Bargatze’s first time hosting the late-night sketch show. He will be hosting alongside the Foo Fighters who are now making their ninth appearance on SNL. This week’s episode is the third in the post-writers strike trilogy of episodes, serving as the Halloween episode. Bargatze is a part of select groups that can host SNL during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike as actors are not able to host, but touring comedians such as him and Pete Davidson (The King Of Staten Island), who hosted the season’s premiere episode, and musicians such as Bad Bunny, who hosted last week’s episode, are able to host.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturday, October 28 at 11:30 pm ET on NBC and also streams live on Peacock. Watch the new promo video below!
