Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Talks Brienne-Jaime Relationship and What’s Coming Up Next on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’

The relationship between Brienne and Jaime Lannister has certainly come a long way. On Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” Jaime displayed the utmost respect and admiration for Brienne of Tarth when he took it upon himself to knight her – a life-long dream of Brienne’s.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime, talked more about that endearing scene.

“It’s a real thing in that world and I also think that he’s happy to do that,” Coster-Waldau said in an interview with TheWrap. “I mean, it’s clearly a woman that he has enormous admiration for and just a human being that he admires. And we saw a scene earlier [in the episode] where he asks if he can serve under her, because he knows she is amazing at what she does and she’s a great warrior and she has all the qualities and is the most deserving of the title of knight of anyone in that world. So I think it’s obviously an act of love.”

With four more episodes left in the final season, the Night King has finally arrived. The battle that will follow in episode three took a total of 55 nights to shoot.

“Well I can say that shooting, on purely a logistical and technical level, just working with Miguel [Sapochnik], the director [of Episode 803], and what him and the crew came up with and pulled off was breathtaking,” he said. “And even though it was a tough shoot you were so inspired by going to set and being part of something that was so massive. And I can’t wait to see it, I really cannot wait to see it, because the crew just worked their asses off and I think it will show.”

The dead will fight the living on an all-new episode of Game of Thrones airing Sunday, April 28 at 9/8c on HBO.
