Nickelodeon has greenlighted a new cooking series starring The Tiny Chef. The Imagine Kids + Family Entertainment character will prepare plant-based recipes for Nickelodeon’s U.S. preschool platforms, via Deadline. The series will also air internationally on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.
According to Deadline, Imagine Kids + Family Entertainment chairman Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Splash) joins Ron Howard (Arrested Development, Solo: A Star Wars Story) as executive producers of the children’s program. Tiny Chef, voiced by Matt Hutchinson, has a dedicated fanbase who follow his popular stop-motion animated shorts. Actress Kristen Bell (The Good Place), another executive producer, was a big fan of the property promoting the segments on social media.
The Tiny Chef team, which includes creators Rachel Larsen (Coraline), Adam Reid (Hello Lonesome), and author Ozi Akturk (The Tiny Chef and Da Mishing Weshipee Blook), spoke on behalf of the tree-stump living cook. “It’s been The Tiny Chef’s dream to have his own cooking show and now Nickelodeon is making that come true,” the team stated via Deadline. “This next chapter in The Chef’s journey will be so exciting and thrilling for all of us.”
The Tiny Chef Show will be Nickelodeon’s second partnership with Grazer’s Imagine Kids + Family imprint. According to Deadline, Nickelodeon previously announced The Astronauts, a live-action adventure series.
In a joint statement, Grazer and Howard expressed how they both “have worked with some of the biggest stars in the business, and we could not be more excited to also now work with the tiniest!,” via Deadline. They also championed Brian Robbins’ team at Nickelodeon as “the gold standard in kids’ entertainment and the perfect home for this series.”
