Nicholas Podany Cast as Mojo Jojo Jr. in The CW’s ‘Powerpuff’

Mojo Jojo, the Powerpuff Girls’ nemesis, is now a father! According to Deadline, Nicholas Podany (Hart of Dixie) has been cast as Mojo Jojo Jr. in The CW’s live-action Powerpuff reboot.

Via Deadline, Mojo Jojo Jr. has grown-up fascinated by the Powerpuff Girls’ crime-fighting past despite his father’s rivalry with the trio. Now an adult, Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr. finds his intelligent, insecure side struggling against his desire for power.

The new series is set to follow the Powerpuff Girls who are now in their mid-twenties. As they’ve become women, they’ve begun to despise the fact that they spent their childhood fighting crime, and now desire nothing more than anonymity. However, when new threats arise, only a reunion between the sisters can save the world from impending doom, via Deadline.

In addition to Podany, Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) has been cast as Blossom, Dove Cameron (Liv & Maddie) has been cast as Bubbles, and Yana Perreault (Jagged Little Pill) has been cast as Buttercup. According to Deadline, Donald Faison (Scrubs) is set to star as Professor Drake Utonium, the Powerpuff Girls’ father.

Powerpuff is written by Diablo Cody (writer, Young Adult) and Heather Regnier (producer, Sleepy Hollow), and Maggie Kiley is set to direct, via Deadline. Cody, Regnier, and Kiley are all additionally attached to the series as executive producers. The live-action reboot is based on the Cartoon Network animated series The Powerpuff Girls, which was created by Craig McCracken (writer, Wander Over Yonder). The original animated series ran from 1998 to 2005.

The adapted series will be produced by Berlanti Productions, Vita Vera Films, and Warner Bros. Television, according to Deadline. Greg Berlanti (producer, The Flash), Sarah Schechter (producer, Black Lightning), and David Madden (producer, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) are attached to produce.
