FX has released a new teaser for Taboo, an eight-part miniseries starring Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Inception).
The video, titled “Mad” and clocking in at a short 20 seconds, features several quick shots of Hardy in both the African wilderness and the claustrophobic venues of 19th century London. The teaser also features an enigmatic voiceover by Hardy’s character, who says he “knows things about the dead”. The teaser lives up to its name, giving only small glimpses into the show’s plot and characters.
Taboo was created by Tom Hardy, his father Chips Hardy (Helping Henry), and British screenwriter and director Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, The Detectives). The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott (Alien, The Martian). The plot, based on a story written by Hardy and his father, follows British adventurer James Delaney (Hardy), who returns to London from Africa in order to avenge the death of his father. However, James has several skeletons in his closet, and things aren’t always what they seem.
According to the promo, Taboo will premiere on FX in “early 2017”.
