PBS has released a new trailer from The Sherlock Special.
The special is a part of the Sherlock series but it’s a little different this time around. Normally, Sherlock is set in modern day. However for this particular special, it will be set in Victorian times, according to Deadline. The new trailer for the special can be seen below.
It features Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock and Martin Freeman’s Dr. Watson living in the world the characters were initially created in when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle originally wrote the material. Instead of the modern day apparel fans have gotten used to seeing these characters in, they are dressed in Era-appropriate gear. The famous deerstalker hat even makes an appearance.
The trailer hints at plenty of drama and mystery for the special. It begins with Holmes speaking the line, “the stage is set, the curtain rises, we are ready to begin.” From there, there are plenty of night actions shots, foggy scenes, and dramatic lines. Later in the trailer Holmes remarks “this is war.”
Not much is revealed in terms of what mystery the famous duo will be tackling but the tension and intrigue are there.
An early teaser released during Comic-Con can be seen here, where we reported on the special and creator Steven Moffat’s thoughts.
There is no official release date yet but the special will air on PBS as well as in theaters. It is expected to arrive around December.
