Dexter: Resurrection will bring the beloved anti-villain character to new location, with other characters returning, Comicbook.com reports exclusively. Showtime has very big plans for the franchise and has already created its own Dexter universe. It all began with the original Dexter, then with its sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, whose finale broke the record of highest episode viewership ever for any show in the entirety of the network’s history; the most recent prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin and now the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection.
According to Comicbook.com, Dexter: New Blood made a bold move with its finale episode: Dexter Morgan was shot and killed in the snow, as the entire series was originally written to be the end of the franchise. Since fans were disappointed, Showtime has brought the character back to life after almost a decade of absence.
Specifically, according to Comicbook.com, the network created the most recent prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, which premiered this week on Paramount+. Furthermore, they have announced the newest upcoming sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. (SPOILER ALERT) At the beginning of Dexter: Original Sin, Dexter is brought back to life by paramedics in the ambulance while on the way to the hospital. Fans believe that the cold slowed the character’s blood loss, so he wasn’t completely dead. Dexter: Original Sin is told by the very own Dexter, as his life flashes before his eyes, so fans hear him narrate his life story from when he first started this double life of killer and forensic assistant.
According to Comicbook.com, the only thing that Showtime announced is that Dexter: Resurrection will be premiering in June 2025, with Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, The Crown) returning as Dexter. Furthermore, rumor posted on DanielRPK’s Patreon says that Dexter: Resurrection will be located in New York City, and both Harry and Harrison Morgan’s characters will be returning. There is no confirmation if James Remar (Sex And The City, Gotham) or Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, The Spiderwick Chronicles) will be portraying Harry since Slater is portraying Dexter’s adoptive father in Original Sin at the moment. Harry’s character is not present in New Blood since Dexter’s “ghost” is his own sister, Deb.
Furthermore, according to Comicbook.com, the rumor seemingly reports that Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones, Wicked) will be portraying one of the main villains in Dexter: Resurrection. Also, Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Pulp Fiction) is reportedly portraying the fixer for Dinklage’s character. At the moment, it’s unclear if famous Dexter characters like Angel and Quinn would return in Resurrection. Still, New Blood teases a slight confrontation between Angel and Dexter before the killer escapes. However, he seems to be reported to be present in a scene at the hospital in Resurrection, meaning that a long-awaited confrontation might happen.
According to Comicbook.com, it’s unclear if Dexter will still be able to operate his double life in New York City after his identity as the infamous city killer has been outed, with the police naming him “The Bat Harbor Butcher.” However, Dexter in New York City will definitely bring a taste of thrill to the new prequel series. The show is scheduled to begin filming at the beginning of January, so it’s likely that more information will be revealed soon.
Dexter, Dexter: New Blood and the first few episodes of Dexter: Original Sin are now available to stream on Paramount+ with a premium subscription tied to Showtime.
