New Netflix Series ‘Messiah’ Releases New Trailer and Premiere Date

Netflix’s new series the Messiah recently released a set premiere date for the show following the release of its new trailer. The show which is planning on premiering on January 1st, 2020 on Netflix and has planned on releasing an overall 10-episode season according to TV Guide.

The series is about CIA detective, Eva Geller played by Michelle Monaghan (Mission Impossible; Pixels) and her journey in uncovering the truth on a man named Al- Masih played by Mehdi Dehbi (London Has Fallen), on whether or not he is a true iteration of a new messiah or simply a con man. Al-Masih’s character has gained significant traction through as title as a “second coming” because of the “miracles” that he has performed that will be explained further during the duration of the show as well as how his influence on people that has spread across the globe with Al-Masih traveling to different parts of the globe including Syria, Israel, Texas and then to those in Washington D.C. to solidify his purpose. Making Eva’s job as a detective even more crucial to the shows intention. Geller’s intuition speculates that Al-Masih’s identity could simply be a façade for something more logically sinister. As the trailer says, that he could possibly be some kind of cult leader or someone affiliated with an already known terrorist group. Either way he could be “creating an army or leading people to their deaths”.

Mark Burnett (Luis Miguel: The Series), Andrew Deane (The Double), Roma Downey (Ben-Hur; The Baxters), James McTeigue (Marco Polo), and Michael Petroni (Possession) all collaborate together as Executive producers for the series. The rest of the series cast also includes Miriam (Jane Adams), Hamza, Avrim (Tomar Sisley), and Will (Wil Traval) and characters Anna (Melinda Page Hamilton) and Rebecca (Stefania Owen) play the wife and daughter of a well-known senator who come into contact with Al-Masih.
