New HBO Trailer Show Off a Bit More of “Watchmen”

Damon Lindelof’s upcoming Watchmen TV series delivers yet another quick glimpse of what’s to come in the second of HBO’s network promotion teasers in 2019. The ad is essentially the premium cabler showing off all it has, and the impressive feats that are yet to come with the massively anticipated season 8 of Game of Thrones waiting in the wings of April being the headliner. But after that, Watchmen continues to be one of the network’s more curious choices as of late.

Created by Lindelof as his follow-up to the acclaimed The Leftovers, Watchmen is a highly ambitious project that only derives from Snyder’s hit-and-miss feature-length adaptation of Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel. Though not deriving to re-tell the original classic, the new series does continue on from that series’ endpoint. There’s not a whole lot else to go at the moment, other than their amassed ensemble cast includes Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Louis Gossett Jr., Don Johnson, Tom Mison, Tim Blake Nelson, and more.

So far, Watchmen has been slowly teasing out its strange new world with last months teaser featuring a quick glimpse at the world that will incarnate our new and familiar faces, one that has police in yellow masks and a new Rorschach apparently out and about. This new footage features more of the same as well as a fair dose of nuance including a heavy one-shot of Jeremy Irons prepping to dive into what seems to be a birthday cake of some sort. What exactly he’s celebrating remains to be seen, but the color scheme of the sweet treat will almost certainly add fuel to the fire that Irons is suspected of playing Ozymandias.

There’s not a whole lot to go on though, but with every minuscule footage reveal, HBO’s Watchmen series looks to become more and more intriguing. Watchmen is expected on HBO sometimes in 2019, be sure to check out the full HBO teaser for 2019 down below:
