The beloved world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to expand even further, as Nickelodeon has announced that there will be a follow up series with the original creators at the helm. According to Deadline, the series will be named Avatar: Seven Havens, which is set in a disagreed world resulted in a catalyst, and follows the journey of a young earth bender, who finds out she is the Avatar.

According to Deadline, this story will be a little bit different as the Avatar title isn’t known for being humanity’s savior, but it’s destroyer. Now she and her sibling are on the run from both humans and spirits that come after her, and uncover the mystery behind the destruction of the world and save the last stronghold, the Seven Haven. This narrative shift presents a darker and more complex perspective on the Avatar’s role, challenging the traditional hero’s journey.

The President of Paramount and Nickelodeon animation, Ramsey Neito goes on to give a statement in an interview with Deadline, “For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally. We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino (Atomic Love) and Bryan Konietzko (Death Battle).”

According to Deadline, the announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, further amplifying the celebration.The original creators DiMartino and Konietzk stated about this achievement, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

While waiting on further information on the series to be released, both animated and live action versions of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are available to stream on Netflix.
