According to Deadline, Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Jaime Ray Newman (Dopesick), Katie Lowes (Scandal), and George Ferrier (One of Us Is Lying) have all been cast in the upcoming series on Starz titled The Hunting Wives. Other previously announced cast members include Malin Åkerman (Trophy Wife), Brittany Snow (Not Dead Yet), Dermot Mulroney (The Wedding Date), and Evan Jonigkeit (The Night House). The series is currently in production in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Deadline reported that the series is being based on the book of the same name which is written by Rebecca Cutter (When opposites Attract). The summary describes the series as a tale of Sophie O’Neil (Snow) and the struggle that is faced by her family as they move from the East Coast to deep East Texas. During this move, she becomes enamored by the socialite Margo Bank’s (Åkerman). Shortly afterword, she becomes consumed by obsession, murder, and seduction.
According to Deadline, Metz will be playing the character Starr, who is the mother of character Abby. She is a very strict Christian and is not welcomed in society despite her role in the church. Newman will be playing the character Callie, who is a powerful woman with great influence in society. She is married to Sheriff Johnny but deeply in love with another character named Margo. Lowes plays the character Jill, who is the queen of church and wife of the Reverend. Due to being trapped in a loveless marriage, she is very protective of her son. Finally, Ferrier will play the son of Jill, who is named Brad. He is a poster child of perfection but has many secrets, including a strange relationship with his mother.
The series will be executive produced by Cutter, who will also be showrunner. Erwin Stoff (The Serpent Queen, The Matrix, Edge of Tomorrow, Julia) for 3 Arts Entertainment and Cobb will also executive produce the series, said Deadline.
