New stars have officially joined the cast of The White Lotus for season four. The Hollywood Reporter details previous rumors that Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club, Alice in Wonderland), and Chris Messina (The Mindy Project, Sharp Objects) are set for the next season, along with Marissa Long (The White Lotus, The Old Breed). Season four will start filming in France and release next year.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the next season of Mike White’s (School of Rock, Orange County) satirical drama anthology series elected a hotel in Paris, France last November. The first season was in Hawaii and season two was in Italy, while the previous season was in Thailand.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The White Lotus is written and created by White , who also serves as the show’s director and writer. Season four however, changes it up by adding two more producers to help out which are David Bernad (Magic Magic, Bad Trip) and Mark Kamine (Jexi, 21 Bridges).
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bernad teases the new season by saying,“I think it’s going to speak to culture in a way that […] is going to be relevant, I don’t want to say too much [other than] I know what it is and where it’s going, and it’s really exciting and I think people will be happy about the direction of season four.”
Each season, elite guests of the luxurious hotels are examined through a sociopolitical lens. Whether through race, class or gender, the show explores social norms in a modern day upstairs/downstairs format. Adding to this critical eye is usually a murder that is solved by the end of the series, simply stating all that glitters is not gold.
The White Lotus started in 2021 with a decent fan base and is continuing in the current year with more chaos and drama. All three seasons are currently streaming on HBO Max on all streaming devices and TVs with a membership.
