

The highly anticipated and upcoming Buffy: The Vampire Slayer reboot has officially rounded out its cast. According to Deadline, the regulars of the series will comprise of Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned, Nightmare Cinema), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU, Peacock), Sarah Bock (Severance, Bruiser), Daniel Di Tomasso (CSI: Vegas, Heaven Sent) and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier, Deception).
According to Deadline, further details about the actors and the characters they will portray have been revealed in the news. Rakotohavana will play Hugo, a lovable high school geek; Ava will portray Larkin, described as a “chronic do-gooder”; Bock will take on the role of Gracie, the leader of a church-going group; Tomasso will play Gabe, Nova’s father and a photojournalist; and Scott will portray Mr. Burke, a popular high school teacher.
According to Deadline, they will be working alongside Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, The Tomorrow War), who will be the new slayer named Nova and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Scooby- Doo, The Grudge) reprising her role as Buffy Summer within the reboot. The plot of the reboot will surely follow a similar path with Nova being trained by Buffy in order to combat supernatural forces and protect everything she hold dears.
According to Deadline, the reboot pilot will be directed by Chloé Zhao (Eternals, Nomadland), and written by Nora (Poker Face, Haven) and Lilla Zuckerman (Prodigal Son, Suits). There is little information if Zhao and Zuckerman twins will be behind the production of the other episodes within the reboot. The reboot aims to strike a balance between nostalgic callbacks and innovative storytelling.
This reboot features an impressive cast, making it a must-watch series for dedicated fans of the Buffyverse. We can also anticipate the same blend of genres and paranormal elements that contributed to the original series’ popularity.
