According to Deadline, Netflix is ending Vikings: Valhalla with the third season of the series. The season is set to air in 2024.
Vikings: Valhalla is created by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, Lock Up) and debuted on Netflix on February 25, 2022. It is a sequel series to Vikings, which is created by Michael Hirst (Elizabeth, The Tudors).
“I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydis. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today and we have done just that. I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they’ll be excited by all the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes. When we started this project 5 years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying,” Stuart said in a statement to IGN, reports Deadline.
“Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense story-wise for our Leif, Freydis and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history,” Stuart added, also according to Deadline.
Vikings: Valhalla stars Sam Corlett (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Dry) as Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson (Tigers, The Chosen Ones) as Freydis Eriksdotter, and Leo Suter (Sanditon, Clique) as Harald Hardrada. The cast also features Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (I Remember You, Alpha), David Oakes (The Borgias, Truth or Dare), Soren Pilmark (The Keeper of Lost Causes, Flickering Lights), Bradley James (Merlin, iZombie), Marcin Dorocinski (Pitbull, The Queen’s Gambit), Sofya Lebedeva (Addicted, Tetris), Goran Visnjic (Timeless, ER), Hayat Kamille (Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile), and Laura Berlin (Emerald Green, Ruby Red).
