News from Netflix’s TUDUM live event continues to flood the interwebs as a release date was revealed for the final season of the juggernaut series, Stranger Things. The Duffer brothers’ (The Boroughs, Hidden) original series will return to Hawkins, Ind., one last time in a three-part release this fall. View the news in a thrilling announcement trailer below.
According to Netflix.com, the beginning of the end commences with three episodes on November 26, three more on Christmas Day, and the final seventh episode on New Year’s Eve. All episodes will be available in the United States at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, a vast difference from the midnight drops of the platform’s yesteryears.
The fifth season’s official synopsis reads as follows:
The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
Cast returning for the final time include Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, The Plot Against America), David Harbour (The New Avengers, Manhattan), Millie Bobby Brown (Enola Holmes, Damsel), Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio), Noah Schnapp (The Peanuts Movie, The Tutor), Sadie Sink (O’dessa, The Whale), Natalia Dyer (Yes, God Yes, Velvet Buzzsaw), Charlie Heaton (The New Mutants, As You Are), Joe Keery (Fargo, Free Guy), Priah Ferguson (The Oath, The Curse of Bridge Hollow), Caleb McLaughlin (Concrete Cowboys, The New Edition Story), Gaten Matarazzo (Honor Society, The Angry Birds Movie 2), Brett Gelman (Fleabag, The Other Guys), and Jamie Campbell Bower (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, The Twilight Saga: New Moon).
New faces in the season will include Alex Breaux as Lt. Akers (The Dead Don’t Hurt, Waco: The Aftermath), Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise, My Life Is Murder) as Holly Wheeler, Jake Connelly (Between the Silence) as Derek Turnbow, and Linda Hamilton (The Terminator, Resident Alien) as Dr. Kay.
All four seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
