Wednesday Addams is back, and she’s not spending her summer relaxing. In the opening six minutes of Wednesday Season Two, revealed at Netflix’s Tudum 2025 event, the gothic teen sleuth is chasing down a serial killer known as the Kansas City Scalper.
According to Netflix, the sneak peek from the first episode of season two, “Here We Woe Again,” shows Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega (Miller’s Girl, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice) diving headfirst into one of her darkest obsessions: solving a cold case that has haunted her since childhood. In a flashback, a young Wednesday delivers a disturbingly detailed school presentation about the case, setting the tone for what’s to come.
Series co-creator Alfred Gough (Smallville, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) states to Netflix TUDUM, “I think the most fun about this was asking, ‘What would Wednesday do during her summer vacation?'” Co-creator Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2, Into the Badlands) adds, “It had to be something insane and dark.”
In the sneak peek Wednesday hunts a murderer, navigates TSA with an arsenal of weapons (except, of course, a bottle of sunscreen that violates liquid rules), and take on a whole new psychic challenge. Gough reveals to Netflix TUDUM, “We love the idea that all of these weapons weren’t really the problem. This is based on London Heathrow Airport’s obsession with the size of your carry-on liquids.” Millar adds, “Wednesday speaks for all of us with the absurdity of modern life, and she can call it out.”
Traveling with her trusty companion Thing, Wednesday arrives in Kansas City and sets her sights on Chet, a creepy pet groomer with a disturbing fixation on hair. Played by Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense, A.I. Artificial Intelligence), Chet turns out to be more than just a suspect though. He’s a twisted killer with a doll-filled basement to prove it. Gough explains via Netflix TUDUM, “The idea with Chet was he was obsessed with hair. He is a beauty school dropout who then became a serial killer.”
Wednesday tries to subdue him but his touch triggers one of her psychic visions that leaves her shedding black tears, signaling a new wrinkle in her abilities. Gough and Millar hint via Netflix that this malfunction will be a key storyline throughout the season. Millar explains, “This season, Wednesday’s psychic visions change. She’s spent her summer vacation mastering her psychic ability, but then something goes wrong, so she returns to Nevermore with her psychic ability glitching. Over the course of the season, it’s a struggle to recover her power.”
Even tied up in a killer’s lair, Wednesday remains unshaken. She quickly turns the tables, unleashing Thing in a surprise attack and reclaiming control with her signature deadpan defiance.
Wednesday Season Two, Part One premieres on Netflix on August 6, 2025, with Part Two following on September 3, 2025.
