According to Deadline, The Witcher received its renewal for season three before season two had even aired on the platform. Season two continued the story of the series as Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. He believes the Princess will be safe as Geralt is now entrusted to protect her.
The Witcher has been a very popular Netflix series based on the popular video game franchise and book series which follows the story of Geralt of Rivia also known as the white wolf. The Netflix adaptation aired back in 2019 and has been a big success since. The series follows the white wolf as he ventures through the lands fighting supernatural creatures for pay. Geralt himself is a mutated human known as a Witcher created to hunt down these monsters.
Season three will feature Henry Cavill’s (Man of Steel) last time playing the role of Geralt as he had recently stepped down sometime after season two had aired and now passes on the mantle to Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games). The news came as a surprise to many fans of both Cavill and the series. This created a backlash towards the series which showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (The Umbrella Academy) confronted shortly after Cavill shared the news.
The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix.
