Hold on to your bicycles as Stranger Things fans get to set off on a new adventure into the Upside Down as the Stranger Things universe is now getting bigger and better than ever. Netflix has officially revealed that the live-action spinoff series has been greenlit called Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure.
The original creators of Stranger Things Matt and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, The Boroughs), along with longtime show writer Kate Trefy (Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, Blood Covenant), are teaming up once again to work on this prequel series. The Duffer brothers and Trefy are also the showrunners and executive producers of the show. Pride and Prejudice director Joe Wright (Atonement, The Soloist), has also been announced to direct the first couple episodes of the show.
The prequel will be many years before the events of Stranger Things and Stranger Things: The First Shadow Broadway show. From what has been disclosed so far, the new series will be set in the 1950s in a brand new setting. The show was revealed to be heading southwest of Hawkins, Indiana and will now take place in Marion, Nevada. The new teaser trailer has been released on social media from Netflix.
Production for the show will be filmed in New Mexico. Additional executive producers for the show are Paul Dicher (Mulligan, The Art of Stalking), Shelley Meals (Sweet Magnolias, Shadow and Bone), Andrea Sperling (The Vince Staples Show, A Murder at the End of the World), Pavlina Haptoupis (Age of Innocence, Spider-Noir) and of course no other than Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine, The Pink Panther) from 21 Laps Productions. The Duffer brothers have further expressed their overall excitement for the anticipated fans to see what they have in store in the Stranger Things universe with this upcoming prequel.
Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure is set to premiere in 2028. All 42 episodes of Stranger Things are currently available to stream now on Netflix.
