According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sirens has set the mark by premiering at number one. They also report that ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ over on Hulu have seen improvement week after week. Looks like the summer is turning out to be a big one for leading women on the small screen.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that ‘Sirens’, which features a cast of Meghann Fahy (Drop, The White Lotus), Milly Alcock (Upright, House of the Dragon), and Julianne Moore (Far from Heaven, Boogie Nights), gathered more than a million minutes of viewing time during the week of May 19-25. They were the only show to pull off this hat trick. It’s noted they also recorded the highest weekly viewing time.
The Hollywood Reporter goes on to detail that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives saw a 19 percent improvement over the previous week, scoring 810 million viewing minutes. The Handmaid’s Tale saw a huge 30 percent increase, garnering 637 million minutes the week before its series finale.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, The Last of Us accumulated 707 million minutes of watch time. This contributed to a decline in their season two viewership, yet still allowed them to make the top ten overall. Andor also remains in the top ten originals, gaining 527 million viewing minutes, even though the series concluded a week ago.
The Hollywood Reporter also covered the movie ratings, detailing how Instant Family reached number one, pulling in 484 million viewing minutes of streaming on Netflix after being added to the streamer on May 16, and is also available on Paramount+. The Wild Robot and the Lilo & Stitch live-action also saw big numbers on Netflix and Disney+, respectively. Lilo & Stitch also saw a reckoning during its premiere at the box office, debuting as the top opener of all time during the Memorial Day weekend.
