Bridgerton, Netflix’s smash hit series, has released a new sneak peek from the upcoming third season, Comicbook.com reports. It features the return of fan-favorite couple Kanthony, portrayed by Simone Ashley (Sex Education, The Little Mermaid, The Sister) and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Fellow Travelers, Broadchurch), giving fans a glance at their married life and their strong love radiating from their glances and smiles.
The clip, via Comicbook.com, which can be seen below, shows the pair at a ball, and the viscount keeps looking for his wife to dance with her. As he notices her speaking with his mother, Violet Bridgerton, he asks to join her in a beautiful dance as she manages to steal a kiss and surprise him. In the meantime, viewers see Penelope being heartbroken while watching the beloved pair share this dance, probably thinking of Colin Bridgerton. As it seems to be noticed in this clip, there will likely be so much drama coming forward for the Polin couple’s season.
According to Comicbook.com, the main couple for this third season is Polin (Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton), portrayed by Luke Newton (The Lodge, The Cut, Lake Placid: Legacy) and Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Big Mood, Barbie). Finally, fans will see this couple blossom in a passionate and undying love. Shondaland has been able to speak to both of the actors about this upcoming season.
“This is my third year on the show, and I knew the workload was going to be crazy,” Coughlan explained, via Comicbook.com. “But I think you do sort of sometimes feel the weight of it. You go, ‘Oh, man, this show is huge.’ It’s got a huge fandom behind it, and you do feel a bit like the captain of the ship, and you want to lead it as best you can. It was all-consuming in a way it’s never been before.”
“After the success of season two, we were all really excited to get back to work,” Newton continued, via Comicbook.com. “I know there are people who have supported the Polin relationship since day one. So, I’m excited for them to finally get what they’ve been waiting for.”
The third season is almost a month away. But, according to Comicbook.com, fans are already speculating which couple will be the focus of the next season. In 2021, Netflix renewed Bridgerton for seasons three and four because of the high numbers of views. Bela Bajaria (YOU, Locke and Key, Daybreak), Netflix’s Global TV VP, and Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, Station 19, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), the creator of the show, have shared their thoughts on the series’ success.
“Bridgerton swept us off our feet,” Bajaria explained, via Comicbook.com. “The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”
“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s (Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Lorraine) delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience,” Rhimes agreed, via Comicbook.com. “But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”
The first two seasons of Bridgerton are available for streaming on Netflix now.
