On Thursday, Netflix revealed the official trailer for Seinfeld’s 23 Hours to Kill after announcing the comedian’s return on April 10. Twenty years after his first original comedy special, Seinfeld comes back on Netflix as part of 2017 two-part deal with the streamer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was filmed before the COVID-19 outbreak and will globally launch on May 5. The teaser was first released on April 23 and its James Bond-theme clip pictured the comedian escaping from a super-villain.
In the opening of 23 Hours to Kill, the comedian jokes on how he could be anywhere instead of being on stand for silly stand-ups. Arguing that everyone’s life sucks in some way, he even adds “My life sucks, too. Perhaps not quite as much”. Uncovering comedy in our everyday life and mocking his own fame, Seinflied hinted at a spectacular arrival in Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Prior to his participation in 2017 Netflix documentary Jerry Before Seinfeld, the comedian had his on-going show called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the main role in Bee Movie and of course, his 1998 HBO first original stand-up I’m Telling You For the Last Time. In addition, Seinfeld even created a 180 episodes sitcom on NBC which won ten Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards.
