Netflix Sets Spring Release Date For ‘BEEF’ Season Two With New Teaser Trailer

As announced on Netflix’s Tudum, A24’s 2023 series BEEF will be returning with its second season to the streaming platform on April 16. This eight episode season will introduce a new cast in the anthology, with an all-new drama from the dark side of the high life.

mxdwn previously reported on BEEF in 2023 after creator Lee Sung Jin (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 2 Broke Girls) signed an overall multi-year deal with Netflix encompassing feature films and scripted series. It was later followed by an update on the second season in 2024, reporting from Lee that he was open and willing to make the next part of the anthology

In October 2024, mxdwn also reported on the new season’s official casting announcement, as well as the addition of four members to the list in January 2025.

Via Netflix’s Tudum, BEEF season two centers on freshly engaged couple Austin Davis (Charles Melton; Riverdale, The Sun Is Also a Star) and Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny; Pacific Rim Uprising, Bad Times at the El Royale) in a country club’s silent battle of social manipulation against their boss Joshua Martín (Oscar Issac; Show Me a Hero, Ex Machina) and his spouse Lindsay Crane-Martín (Carey Mulligan; Promising Young Woman, The Great Gatsby). Both couples are aiming for the same goal – The approval of the country club’s billionaire owner Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh Jung; Minari, Dear My Friends), who is grappling with her own scandal and second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang Ho; Parasite, Snowpiercer).

Additional cast members, via Tudum, include Mikaela Hoover (Superman, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Ava, Seoyeon Jang (Snowdrop, Doctor Lawyer) as Eunice, William Fichtner (Armageddon, Black Hawk Down) as Troy, and – in his acting debut – Musician BM (Kard) as Woosh.

Lee’s inspiration for this season was to flip the script on the “old versus new” with a younger Gen Z couple dealing with their millennial foils and the divide in generations after age, as the creator stated to Tudum. While he had always wanted BEEF to be an anthology, Lee aimed for this season to reflect the internalization of rage and experience passive-aggression in the workplace.

Reported by Tudum, BEEF’s season two teaser trailer reflects this concept, showcasing the invasive nature of resentment that can’t always be hidden behind exclusivity and paid discretion. While Joshua and Lindsay struggle through their unraveling multi-year marriage, honeymoon phase Ashley and Austin are jolted after unintentionally bearing witness to their most private and brutal relationship argument. Both couples are locked in a silent war for approval that brings out their own darkness by the country club’s billionaire owner, and yet Chairwoman Park is dealing with her own relationship issues behind the scenes.

Tudum stated that Lee returns as executive producer, creator, and showrunner for the second season. Also among the executive producers is Jake Schreier (Lodge 49, Kidding), season one stars Ali Wong (American Housewife, Always Be My Maybe) and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Okja), and season two’s main cast Spaeny, Melton, Issac, and Mulligan.

BEEF premiers with season two on April 16, with all eight 30-minute episodes being dropped exclusively on Netflix.
