According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has announced the premiere date for the second and final season of The Sandman in a new trailer. The final season of the series will have two premiere dates due to the streamer splitting it into two parts. The first part of the season will air on July 3, with six episodes, and the second part will air on July 24, with five episodes.

Below is the traler for the second season of The Sandman.

The official description reads as follows: “After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything. Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series, the second season of The Sandman will tell Dream’s story arc in full to its thrilling conclusion.”

The cast of the series includes Tom Sturridge (On the Road, Waiting for Forever), Boyd Holbrook (Logan, The Predator), Patton Oswalt (Young Adult, Eternal), Vivienne Acheampong (The One, The Witches), Kyo Ra (Geeked Week Unlocked: Sandman), Mason Alexander Park (Quantum Leap, National Anthem), Jenna Coleman (Victoria, Doctor Who), Nina Wadia (All About Me, Bunnyhood) and many others.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix decided that the second season of the series will be its last due to allegations that surfaced in January. Creator and executive producer Neil Gaiman (Good Omens, American Gods) has been accused of alleged sexual misconduct and has been sued for alleged sexual assault. This led to many of his projects either stopping or going on hiatus.

“The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” showrunner Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman)said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter. “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”

The Sandman is available to stream on Netflix.
