Netflix Reveals Official Teaser Trailer For ‘Devil May Cry’ During Geeked Week

According to ComicBook, Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for the Devil May Cry anime series. The series is based on the Capcom video game franchise of the same name by Hideki Kamiya (Bayonetta) and is being created by Adi Shankar (The Grey).

Shankar is known for working on series such as Castlevania, Castlevania: Nocturne and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.

The full official teaser trailer for the series is down below. The trailer was released during Netflix’s Geeked Week showcase hosted by Joe Manganiello (Zack Snyder’s Justice League).

“Rest assured, we are working very hard because we love the franchise and because we want to deliver something great,” said series creator and showrunner Shankar of the DMC anime adaptation, which was first announced in 2018. “Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform, period.”

As per Comicbook, Shankar also added, “When you deeply care about something and now all of a sudden you find yourself at the helm of it, it’s cool. When you get to work with amazing collaborators — like Alex Larsen (Yasuke), like Studio Mir, like Netflix, who have been pioneers in this adult animation streaming space. So rest assured, we’re working very hard because we love the franchise, and we want to deliver something great. Something that stands the test of time.”

The series is based on the video game franchise released in 2001. The game franchise now spans six-game entries as well as an animated series that aired in 2007.

The game franchise centers around the protagonist, Dante, who was born to Sparda, a legendary demon, and their human mom, Eva. Dante sets out on a journey to avenge his murdered mother, killing every demon he sees. Through his journey, he finds and is challenged by his twin brother Virgil, whom Dante believed to be dead.

Devil May Cry will premiere on Netflix in April 2025.
