Netflix Renews Sitcom ‘The Upshaws’ For A Final Season

According to Deadline, Netflix has renewed The Upshaws for a seventh and final season. The streamer recently released and has renewed many series in parts, including the dramatic sitcom for its seventh part. The fifth part of the series aired on the streamer in April, with the sixth part scheduled to debut in early 2025. As per Deadline, after the first season, the second and third seasons were released in two parts, each consisting of six to eight episodes. The sixth season will have 10 episodes, with the seventh and final part having 12 episodes. Together, the series will conclude with 60 episodes and seven seasons. This will make it the third longest-running Netflix multi-cam comedy behind The Ranch with 80 episodes and Fuller House with 75 episodes. 

Created by Regina Y. Hicks (Sister, Sister) and Wanda Sykes (Velma), the series took the reins for the sitcom format on Netflix until That ’90s Show joined it. The series follows a Black working-class family in Indianapolis, Indiana, who try to make everything work while struggling with daily life issues. Husband Bernard is a well-intentioned mechanic who tries his best for his family alongside his wife Regina, their two daughters, their firstborn son, and his sardonic sister-in-law. Bernard also has a second son, the teenage son he fathered with another woman.

The cast of the series includes Mike Epps (Friday After Next) as Bernard Upshaw, Kim Fields (Living Single) as Regina Upshaw, Khali Spraggins (Empire) as Aaliyah Upshaw, Journey Christine (Let it Snow) as Maya Upshaw, Jermelle Simon (A Rodeo Film) as Bernard Upshaw Jr., Diamond Lyons (All Screwed Up) as Kelvin Upshaw, Sykes as Lucretia Turner, Michel Estime (Last Holiday) as Tony, Leonard Earl Howze (Barbershop) as David and Page Kennedy (Snowfall) as Duck.
