Netflix has officially renewed its romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This for a fourth season, just two weeks after releasing its third season on October 22. According to Deadline, the series, starring Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Veronica Mars) and Adam Brody (The O.C., Gilmore Girls), has joined a small group of Netflix live-action comedies to reach four seasons or more.
Despite opening below its second season, Nobody Wants This recorded the largest debut week for a returning Netflix comedy this year, and its third season accumulated 13.4 million views during its first two weeks, appearing on Netflix’s global Top 10 list both weeks. The comedy has accumulated 78.5 million views overall and appeared in Netflix’s Top 10 across 89 countries
Deadline notes that Netflix’s Vice President of Comedy Series US, Tracey Pakosta, praised the show’s continued popularity and its ability to connect with audiences across multiple seasons. She described the series as a cultural phenomenon and expressed excitement about its renewal.
The third season followed Joanne, played by Bell, and Noah, played by Brody, as they took the next step in their relationship by moving in together. Following Joanne’s conversion, the season concluded with the couple having an impromptu beach wedding.
Meanwhile, their siblings, Sasha, played by Timothy Simons (Veep, Candy), and Morgan, played by Justine Lupe (Succession, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), began a complicated romantic relationship. Their developing relationship introduced another storyline alongside Joanne and Noah’s marriage.
Created by Erin Foster, Nobody Wants This is co-run by Foster, Jenni Konner, and Bruce Eric Kaplan. The three also serve as executive producers alongside Bell and several others. 20th Television produces the series, and it is filmed in Los Angeles.
The third season’s promotional campaign also drew attention after Brody publicly supported “Free Palestine.” His comments prompted differing opinions from Foster and fellow cast member Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead), who portrays Noah’s mother.
With its fourth season confirmed, Nobody Wants This will continue following Joanne and Noah’s relationship, although Netflix has not announced a premiere date or additional plot details.
