Streaming platform Netflix revealed its plans to renew Never Have I Ever for a second season according to Entertainment Weekly. Created by Mindy Kaling (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Lang Fisher (The Mindy Project), the comedy revolves around Devi Vishwakumar, portrayed by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Sidewalks Entertainment).
Ramakrishnan was chosen out of 15,000 applicants who took part in in the open casting call that Kaling had posted online. While being a first generation student, the series follows her as she navigates high school as a modern-day Indian American girl.
Simultaneously, Devi has been dealing with the loss of her father, and regaining the use of her legs after becoming psychosomatically paralyzed. The series follows her many ups and downs that comes with the territory of growing up, adolescence, with a love triangle thrown into the mix.
As well as Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan as Nalini (The Night Of), Richa Moorjani as Kamala (Love Fool), Jaren Lewison as Ben Gross (Lone Star), Darren Barnet as Paxton Hall-Yoshida (American Pie), Lee Rodriguez as Fabiola (Class of Lies), and Ramona Young as Eleanor (Z Nation) will come back for the second season.
