Netflix Renews ‘Ginny & Georgia’ For Seasons Three & Four; Sarah Glinski Joins Series as Showrunner

According to Deadline, Netflix has renewed Ginny & Georgia for third and fourth season. Sarah Glinski (Degrassi: Next Class, Degrassi: The Next Generation) was hired as showrunner prior to the WGA strike. Debra J. Fisher (Criminal Minds, The O.C.) previously served as showrunner on the first two seasons of the series.

The two-season order is not surprising due to the series performance. Netflix has renewed series’ of similar pedigrees for two seasons at a time before, including Virgin River.

There were rumors of friction between Ginny & Georgia creator Sarah Lampert (Ginny & Georgia, Haze) and Fisher, according to Deadline. There was speculation that Fisher would be leaving the series in April. The showrunner change is believed to have something to do with the four-month wait for renewal despite the success of the series.

Ginny & Georgia follows Georgia Miller, played by Brianne Howey (The Exorcist, I Live With Models), her youngest child Austin, played by Diesel La Torraca (Sweet Tooth, Little Monsters), and her teenaged daughter Ginny, played by Antonia Gentry (Candy Jar, Time Cut) as they move to a wealthy town in Massachusetts for a new start after Georgia’s husband dies.

The series also stars Katie Douglas (Mary Kills People, Pretty Hard Cases), Felix Mallard (Happy Together, Lockey & Key), Scott Porter (Lucifer, Up Here), Chelsea Clark (Degrassi: Next Class, The Protector), Sara Waisglass (Degrassi, Hollie Hobby), Jennifer Robertson (Twitches, Schitt’s Creek), and Raymond Ablack (Maid, Workin’ Moms).

Along with Lambert, Ginny & Georgia is executive produced by Glinski, Elena Blekhter (Ginny & Georgia, Batman Unburied), Daniel March (Van Helsing, Trapped), Lance Samuels (Surreal Estate, Astrid and Lilly Save the World), Jeff Tahler (Life Is Beautiful, Paper Clips), Armand Leo (Cardinal, Rookie Blue), Holly Hines (Please Like Me, Fortitude), Daniel Iron (Spinning Out, Vagrant Queen), Jenny Daly (#1 Single, Container Wars), series writer Angela Nissel (Scrubs, Mixed-ish), and series director James Genn (The Good Doctor, Charmed).
