Netflix Releases Official Trailer For The Third Season Of ‘Heartstopper’

The trailer for the third season of Netflix’s Heartstopper was released on Tuesday morning, Deadline reports. The series will explore more adult-related themes in this season, with more journeys alongside the friend group of Charlie Spring, portrayed by Joe Locke (Agatha All Along), and Nick Nelson, portrayed by Kit Connor (The Wild Robot, Rocketman).

According to Deadline, this upcoming third season will be based on the events that unfold in the fourth book of the famous graphic novels written by Alice Oseman. Charlie and Nick will encounter difficulties in communicating what they want, as Charlie wants to say that he loves Nick, and Nick wants to ask Charlie if he has an eating disorder, as it’s a delicate topic.

The trailer, embedded below, and under the notes of Griff’s “Vertigo,” opens with the friend group having a beach day after school. Charlie is absent, according to Deadline, and his mind is somewhere else, as he listens to music. Nick approaches him to speak to him instead of having his earbuds on. But Charlie looks withdrawn, watching his friends make sandcastles as Nick approaches him to get him to take his earbuds out.

“16 is when nothing makes sense anymore,” Locke’s voiceover says, via Deadline, in a scene where Isaac, played by Tobie Donovan, is third wheeling Tao, played by William Gao (Sunrise, Goddess), and Elle, played by Yasmin Finney (Hello Stranger, Doctor Who), as they try to go on a movie date.

The trailer goes back to focus on Tara Jones, played by Corinna Brown (Essex Girls, The Kitchen), who shares her preoccupation with her friends over the upcoming school year, via Deadline: “Starting Sixth Form, thinking about Uni options, it’s all just…”

“A lot?” Nick interrupts her sentence, via Deadline.

In the same scene, according to Deadline, Nick noticed Charlie struggling to eat his food. Because of that, he starts confronting him gently about the subject without mentioning food. Elle and Tao want to take their relationship to the physical level, but intimacy seems difficult for Elle.

“When you put your hand there, all my dysphoria just hit me,” she explains preoccupied to Tao, via Deadline. Charlie’s voiceover comes into focus, as he states, “The friendship group is all over the place.”

In the next clip, according to Deadline, Charlie’s sister Tori explains to him that she is worried about his health. Afterward, Nick confides in his Aunt Diane, played by Hayley Atwell (The Duchess, Captain America: The First Avenger), about his concerns over Charlie, as she gives him advice.

“Sometimes, people need more support than one person can give,” she explains to a tearful Nick via Deadline, as another shot of Charlie leaving in a car, and Charlie surprising Nick afterward. “You can be there for him, standing together, even when it’s hard. That’s love, darling.”

According to Deadline, in the last two clips of the trailer, Isaac gives cheeky advice to Charlie about sex ed class, and Jonathan Bailey’s (Bridgerton, Wicked) Jack Maddox appears also, charming Nick for a split second with his good looks and charming self.

Furthermore, Netflix has released additional teaser images for new guest roles. If anyone is interested in viewing the images, Deadline has them available here.

Heartstopper season three will be available to stream on Oct. 3 on Netflix.
